The Hive Mother was the greatest and biggest of the Banded Wasps. Normally the Wasps were considered a peaceful race, mostly sticking to themselves--however, Kyrand and his daughter Kyrilla could persuade them to join their cause. Kyrilla actually forced The Hive Mother into servitude during her time serving as a puppet to Cartucke. Once Kyrilla realized her error, she didn't involve the Banded Wasps in any more battles. Kyrand however, probably was a staunch ally with them given their peaceful nature.
